Kevin Meiklejohn was appointed as a new Security manager in October 2016.
Kevin has since reviewed the current security measures in place and addressed any shortcomings with regards to inadequate or outdated equipment.
New IP cameras were installed at all entry points, which would make it easier to identify registration numbers and faces.
Plans for the New Year include upgrading the existing electric fence and putting together a 5-year plan to replacing the older analogue CCTV cameras on the perimeter fence with digital IP cameras.
The current visitor sign-in procedure is also under review, and plans are to replace it with an electronic scanner system, to comply with the current POPI act.
The upgrade to in-house security included a change in our Security Officers uniform, which is now in navy blue.
With the season looming, additional personnel was appointed to assist during this busy period. This includes a “marshal” which would assist in identifying rule transgressors, and also a pool attendant.
